A Year in the Life of GB.com

It’s been a year since GB.com re-opened its virtual doors after a much-too-long hiatus. The original site (unfortunately lost in MySQL space) was conceived and designed in December 2008 and went live in late January 2009. A short trip down Memory Lane… The Lies of Locke Lamora had been released in June 2007, but yours truly discovered the book in early 2008 and only had to wait a few months for the release of Red Seas under Red Skies in July 2008. A small community was forming, particularly around the now-defunct Camorr.com and its forum. So many thanks are due to the Right People–too many to name–for keeping up a good spirit during the long years waiting for The Republic of Thieves. A special mention to Sabetha, who will hopefully recognize herself, with whom we emailed various authors and editors to get our hands on the prologue of the much-awaited third opus–only to have our favorite author Scott Lynch himself send it to us back in 2010(!). This is exactly the spirit of camaraderie that makes the GB fandom so special.

A toast and prayer:
To all the Right People, wherever they may be. We wish them well. We welcome them warmly. And for our garrista, we pray, good health and inspiration. For us, we beg, wisdom (and long life).
