Adam Whitehead announced on Wertzone that a Locke Lamora TV series might be in the works. You will remember that part of the hype surrounding the release of The Lies of Locke Lamora back in 2006 was that the film rights had been acquired very early on by a major studio. The rights had then lapsed. A few years ago, in 2012, the Gollancz catalog stated that the first book of the series had been ‘optioned for television.’
Writer Ryan Condal is now reported to have said at an event in Santa Fe that he is working on a pilot script for a TV series based on the novel. When asked about the rumor, Scott Lynch wrote:
I can neither confirm nor deny the denial or confirmation of anything potentially requiring denial or confirmation.
If the rumor is true, it will make fans–both of the Gentleman Bastard sequence and of Fantasy in general–happy, since many have pined to see more such series on TV after the success of Game of Thrones on HBO.
